Bio Iesha Siler was born and raised in Pasadena. She has worked in public policy, education, non-profit, and public health. This is her third time around here at City Hall. She previously worked as a legislative deputy for City of Los Angeles Councilwoman Jan Perry, where she worked on food access, public safety, and parks and recreation. Her multi-ethnic background has sparked her interest to explore and work with other cultures. She has worked in communities throughout Los Angeles, Washington D.C., New York City and abroad in Chile, India, and Morocco. She holds a Masters in Public Health, with an emphasis on Urbanism and the Built Environment, from Columbia University. Her graduate thesis was focused on how Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) could be utilized as another way low-income communities could connect with local farmers and increase their access to fresh, local, organic produce. She is active in her local community, serving on the UNA Pasadena Chapter board; Zanja Madre, an organization which aims to impart how the built environment directly impacts the quality of our lives, and New Horizon School Garden Committee, working to build the first Peace Garden in a local Muslim School.
